Is Spain past it's Sell by Date?

If you had asked me this question 5 years ago the answer would certainly have been no!!

However, in recent years I have had the opportunity of spending vast amounts of time outside of Europe (through business) and often spend time at my Hacienda in Mexico. I also regulary visit other Latin American countries, and although I'm a leading Spanish mortgage broker, Spain in my opinion has lost it's sparkle.

In fact our recent poll " Is Spain past it's sell by date" (as can be seen on the left hand menu) confirms that almost 70% of you feel the same way.

Why am I making this statement, am I an idiot, perhaps shooting myself in the foot and losing business? No, I don't think so. Afterall, if you're intent on buying in Spain we'll get your business. If you are looking to buy elsewhere (any where in the World) we'll still get your business.

Why invest in Spain? prices are by no means cheap, construction quality can be questionable and as we speak prices are dropping. For example, the Hacienda that I am selling/raffling by competition for 1.4 million Euros would cost over 3 million in Spain.

We could discuss this all day, corruption, well according to the World bank Spain does not appear to be handling this too well, infact in Europe they only trump Italy and Greece on fighting this, as expected. Unemployment, again almost 20% and the highest in Europe.

Weather, perhaps, extreme summer heat for three months then it can be pretty damn cold in the winter months! Beaches, they cannot compare to Mexico, ie the Carribean and Pacific's golden beaches, oh and a temperate all year climate around 30ºC.

Hospitality in Spain? try calling the authorities and big corporate bodies, diga or digame, sound familiar?

Am I working for the Mexican Tourism Board? certainly not! Do I sell property in Mexico? again, certainly not! As an expat who has been in Spain since the early 90's there are other great places to live in and certainly not Romania or Bulgaria...

I can't comment on Asia, the Middle East or Australia but I find Mexico has it all for me. Friendly people, good food at very low prices, petrol priced at 50% of European prices. They produce it! Travel to the Carribean Islands or the United States is so affordable. Visit New York for under 200 Euros. The list could go on forever.

The simple fact is, wherever you require a mortgage to buy a property we can help.

.has lost it's shine. releas the equity within their property but to retain full ownership of their property. Unlike home reversion plans you do not sell yoperty prices increase you can apply to release additional equity in your home, or pass on this growth to your dependents.
